Birds of the Cape

Birds of the Cape
sweet sounds the song of spring,
for the flock is welcomed back from the distant north,
a merry cacophony of sound we emit,
celebrating life for the newborn chicks,
some of the elders have to feathered pastures gone,
their wisdom we miss and mourn,
wings to the grind in building nests from grass and sticks,
soaring into yonder blue skies we keep fit,
feed for the chicks is daily sought,
enjoy sultry spring blistering summer until the migration bells begin yet again to ring.

A sublime mixture of poetry and photographic art.
